Topics: Parenting, Children and Mental Health

Ray Nordine, would probably remind you of Jolly 'OLE St. Nick, but just like this popular mythical character, Nordine is an expert with children and parents. In fact, Nordine advocates the rights of parents over, those of children. He is nationally recognized as a proficient in parents rights, and has appeared on The Oprah Winfrey Show five times! Author of the book and video of the same title: Parenting With C.A.R.E., the acronym stands for: Credibility, Assertiveness, Responsibility, and Esteem Building.

He believes that parents are entitled to expectations from their children, and offers assistance with decision making, and parenting skills through appointments with his Family Plus business. Family Plus specializes in family and individual behavior intervention. Nordine, a mental health professional, tackles such issues as following household rules, problems with school, trouble with the law, arguments, and so forth. Family Plus' main focus is teaching parents how to motivate their children's cooperation and behavior. Nordine's credo states: "I believe that parents have rights, I believe that that parents have more rights than kids - if only because they are adults.

I believe that parents have the unconditional right to set reasonable expectations for their children, and they have the right to insist that their children live up to those reasonable expectations or suffer the natural consequences for not doing do." Family Plus offers an unique parenting education program with topics that cover parental credibility, children's self-esteem, and assertive or aggressive behavior and related concerns. In addition to his own accomplishments, Nordine has lead workshops for several major state human services organizations throughout the country.
